Blog are growing in number by the minute, making the competition for bloggers stiffer than ever. With millions of blogs in the World Wide Web today, how can you set your blog apart from the rest? To give you a leg up, you must avoid common blogging mistakes so you blog will appear more professional and credible than the rest.
1. Putting too much clutter in your blog. There are some blogs that are full of plug-ins, images, videos, audio files, and ads making them difficult to download. Remember, your main goal in putting up a blog is to provide your readers with quality content. It's okay to use the latest tools and gadgets just make sure that they do not bury your content and they do not slow down the downloading time of your blog.
2. Not promoting your blog. There are a great number of bloggers who put up web log, post some articles and wait for the traffic to come in. This simply will not work. In order to generate traffic to your blog, you must learn how to promote it through SEO, link building, forum posting, and the likes.
3. Ignoring readers' comments. If you want to build personal relationship with your readers, it is important that you take their comments seriously. Let them know that you appreciate their time posting their opinions and that you are going to take each constructively to improve your blog.
4. Not updating your blog. Online users and search engines love blogs because they are usually updated. However, some bloggers leave their blogs idle for quite a long period of time. This can greatly affect your page ranking and you might even lose your readership. If you cannot post for the next several days or weeks, I suggest that you post ahead. You can write articles and manipulate the timestamp feature of your blog platform. By doing this, your articles will be posted on the designated time even if you are not in front of your computer.
